Installing VOIP is fast, easy and requires no special tools or technical knowledge. Many people can install and start making phone calls with VOIP in only a few minutes. If you just signed up for VOIP service, here are some tips on installing VOIP.

VOIP stands for voice internet protocol and is a great way to make phone calls from your home or business over the internet. VOIP’s main advantage is that it is much more cheaper than land line phones and VOIP is very flexible, which can be used almost anywhere.

Installing VOIP is extremely easy. There are three ways to use VOIP; you can use your traditional phone, USB phone or computer software phone. Most people would like to set up their VOIP service for use with their traditional phones. When installing VOIP, your VOIP service will send you an ATA or analog telephone adapter. To install VOIP, just plug your traditional phone into the adapter and then hook your adapter up to your broadband internet connection. You will also have to load adapter software into your computer, other than that, you are ready to make phone calls.

To install VOIP with the use of USB phones, just download VOIP software from your service provider onto your computer and plug in your USB phone. Your USB phone should automatically be recognized and you should be able to place calls in a few minutes.

If you are on the road and do not have a USB phone, plug a computer headset into your computer’s sound card and make an easy phone call. You just need to install VOIP software from your service, usually called “soft phone” and then use your headset to talk and listen to your phone conversation.
